In current vehicles, integrated display devices (screens, eg dashboard display, head-up display, rear-seat entertainment systems, projection surfaces, eg head-up windshield, rear window for head-up display on the rear window, etc.) for the representation and / or display of information, more particularly of graphic information, are more numerous.
When displaying information on these display devices, due to unfavorable light conditions and an adverse incidence of light, the readability of the information shown may be degraded.
In the state of the art, it is known how to detect a glare effect or a degradation of readability by reflection of light or other for an occupant of a vehicle.
JP 2002-347476 A describes the detection of a glare effect and the tilting or rotation of a display device for the reduction of the glare effect, so that the light arriving in the vehicle is reflected in another direction. A sensor is described which determines the incidence of light on the display device.
DE 2012012322 A1 discloses a method for controlling a display device for displaying images, in which the glare effect (e.g., the glare effect characteristic) d an image to be represented on the display device is detected and determined by means of a camera. Depending on the detected glare effect, the contrast and / or colors of the image represented are adapted or the transparency of the image area (for example when the display device is designed as a projection surface for example a head-up display) is reduced.
DE 10 2008 043 828 A1 describes a method for the determination of luminous technical parameters of a symbol that can be projected in front of the window of a vehicle. The readability of the display of a head-up display is ensured even in difficult light conditions, thanks to the fact that the light density and the color of the symbol are adapted to the background (at light conditions in the environment of the vehicle).
The known solutions require an extremely important effort with regard to the measurement techniques and / or do not yet make it possible, at least in certain unfavorable situations, to obtain a satisfactory readability for the passengers of the vehicle. The object of the present invention is therefore to at least partially solve the problems described in the state of the art and more particularly to ensure that important information is legibly represented for the driver of a vehicle.
These objectives are achieved by a method for controlling at least a first display device for displaying images, at least one information which can be represented on the at least one first display device in the form of an image, comprising at least the following steps: a) detecting a glare effect in at least a first partial area of the at least one first display device, wherein at least one information is represented under the shape of an image; b) sorting information according to their relevance, when a plurality of information is represented on the at least one first display device; c) verification and detection if, in a second partial area of the first display device or on a second display device, a glare effect is lower than in the first partial area; d) verification and detection if, in the second partial area of the first display device or on the second display device, no information or information with a lower relevance is represented; e) representing the at least one information or the at least one information with a higher relevance in the second partial area of the first display device or on the second display device.
According to an embodiment of the invention, at least the first partial zone is adjusted or deactivated when a glare effect is detected, which comes from the first partial zone.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the relevance of the information is evaluated according to events, so that the representation of information on the at least one first display device or on the second device display is adapted.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the glare effect is determined by at least one camera.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the representation of the at least one piece of information is adapted to the available size of the second partial area of the first display device and / or the second display device with an effect glare weaker.
According to an embodiment of the invention, a threshold value for the glare effect is taken into account in step a), the process being continued with step b) or with the step (c) only when the threshold value is exceeded. It is therefore proposed, more particularly, that the information represented, requested or necessary on the display device or the plurality of display devices be classified according to their relevance and, more particularly in the case where a glare effect has been detected, that the information with higher relevance is represented in clearly readable partial areas of the display devices.
Thus, if for example the direction instructions of a navigation system are represented on the display device of the central console (main display) and if this information is difficult to see because of the direct solar radiation, the direction instructions could also be displayed on the dashboard display, so as to be, in the current situation, more legible. On the other hand, when the vehicle is driving at night, the display device in the center console (main display) can itself be the cause of driver glare. In this case, the display device could be dimmed or disabled and the higher relevance information could instead be displayed on another display (eg display on the dashboard or head-up display).
More particularly, at least the first partial area is attenuated or deactivated upon detection of a glare effect from the first partial area.
The relevance of the information can of course also depend on the events (appearance of obstacles, turning process, parking process, incoming or outgoing telephone calls, instructions of the navigation systems), more particularly so that the representation of information on the at least one first display device or on the second display device can be adapted or modified continuously. Even if the process of determining the relevance and / or attribution of relevance to information is here incorporated into the process, the following partial steps can also be performed separately, if necessary before and / or after the method: i) assigning a relevance (or a characteristic value of relevance) to one or more information when a plurality of information is represented on a display device, ii) sorting the information according to the relevance that has been awarded.
According to an advantageous design, the glare effect is determined by at least one camera. However, it is also possible to use, for the detection of a glare effect, sensors, for example as described in JP 2002-347476 A1 mentioned above.
More particularly, it is advantageous that the representation of the at least one information is adapted to the available size of the second partial area of the first display device and / or the second display device with a lower glare effect. .

In the context of step a) of the method, a glare effect 6 is detected at least in the first partial zone 7 of the first display device 3. In the step a), a threshold value 14 is taken into account for the glare effect 6, the process being continued with step b) or with step c) only when the threshold value 14 is exceeded.
In the context of step b), it is determined whether information 5 is also represented on the second display device 9. The information 5 is then classified according to their relevance. It is verified and detected, in the context of step c), whether, on the second display device 9, a glare effect 6 is lower than in the first partial zone 7. In the context of the step d), it is checked and detected if, on the second display device 9, information 5, having a lower relevance 10 than the information represented in the first partial area 7 with a higher relevance 11, is represented.
The relevance of the information 5 may also depend on an event 16 (here: the appearance of an obstacle in front of the vehicle 1), so that the representation of information 5 on the at least one first display device 3 or on the second display device 9 can be adapted or modified, in particular continuously.
